An Autumn Jeju Trip Along Silver Miscanthus
Five places, from oreum ridges to seaside decks, to match the way you like to walk
Choosing one or two in the area near your lodging lets you stay without being rushed by travel. Sangumburi is a tourist attraction with an admission fee and set hours, while for the oreums and the coastal path you should check which sections are open for visits that day. The color and density of the miscanthus in the reference photos may differ from the real scenery on your visit day.
Saebyeol Oreum
Saebyeol Oreum's Wide Miscanthus Slopes
The slopes of the east and west trails are not the same, and the west path is described as steeper. Rather than expecting a flat walk just because it is a short oreum, choose a path to suit your stamina and shoes. On clear days the summit offers views toward the west coast and Biyangdo, but visibility depends on the weather. Use the public parking lot and restrooms at the entrance first, and rather than pushing through the miscanthus, enjoy the scenery from the designated trail.
Ttarabi Oreum

The route from the trailhead to the summit and the walk around the crater rim take different amounts of time. Decide first where you will turn back, and bring water and an outer layer. The tourism guide marks it as having no restroom, so it is easier to prepare before you go. You can link it with the Gapmajang Trail for a long trek, but do not think of it as a short walk that automatically includes other courses. Check the on-site signposts and walk within the paths that are open.
Sangumburi Crater

Sangumburi is an attraction you enter after buying a ticket. According to tourism information, the individual adult fee is 7,000 won, and discounts and age categories should be checked in the ticketing guide. Last admission is announced as 6 p.m. in September and October and 5 p.m. from November, so it is wise to check the hours again as the season changes. Early closing due to weather is also possible. Do not block the walkway taking miscanthus photos, and rather than going down into the crater, enjoy it from the designated viewing space.
Dakmeori Coastal Trail
Miscanthus and Sea on the Dakmureo Coastal Path
Think separately about walking the whole coastal path and just briefly viewing around the pavilion. Rather than only following the points marked on the map, it is more accurate to check the deck entrance and the passable sections on the signboard on site. On days with strong wind or high waves, do not push down to sections close to the sea. If you want to see the sunset, check the weather and sunset time, and also look at the way back after dark. Take photos from the deck and the designated viewing spaces.
Yongnuni Oreum

It has a history of a natural rest-year system, and the access restriction was lifted in July 2023, which does not mean every section is open on your visit day. Check the latest visit notices and the closure signs at the entrance, then move along the designated path. If you meet grazing horses, keep your distance and do not approach or feed them. Prepare water and shoes considering even the distance of a loop around the ridge, and on strong-wind or poor-visibility days, leave yourself room to choose another plan over climbing.
Access to oreums can change with wildfire prevention, vegetation protection, and weather. Follow the latest closure notices and on-site signposts, and do not go off the trails. With the days getting shorter in this season, it is easier if you leave time to get back while it is still light.
