Bringing Out the Records from the Drawer: CD and SACD Players

When selecting the Marantz SACD 30n, it's important to consider your actual connection environment and purpose before the product name. It integrates SACD·CD mechanisms with HEOS network playback and USB-B DAC. It features fixed and variable RCA outputs, optical and coaxial digital inputs and outputs, and a headphone jack. This setup is advantageous in situations where you want to listen to ‘SACD·CD and streaming through a single analog output,’ but it can only be fully utilized if your equipment and space can accommodate it.

Be sure to set the maximum volume limit before directly connecting the variable output to a power amplifier. HEOS service and voice assistant support may vary by country and firmware. Particularly, the ‘SACD·HEOS·USB DAC with fixed and variable output’ components need to be confirmed before finalizing the purchase setup and installation location. By comparing the output levels of HEOS and disc playback and saving the upper limit of the variable output, you can prevent sudden volume increases when switching sources.

When choosing the Denon DCD-1700NE, consider your actual connection environment and purpose before the product name. It supports SACD·CD and DSD, FLAC, WAV recorded on DVD-R/RW·CD-R/RW. Utilizing Advanced AL32 Processing Plus and a 384kHz/32bit DAC, it provides RCA, optical, and coaxial outputs. This configuration is advantageous in scenarios where you want to ‘play high-resolution audio from SACD and data disks,’ but can be properly utilized only if your devices and space meet the conditions.

This product does not play all DVD video disks, so check the compatible audio files and disk formats. There are limitations on the digital output of the SACD signal, so consider using RCA analog connections. Particularly, check the ‘SACD·DVD-R/RW file formats and RCA·digital outputs’ before finalizing the purchase setup and installation location. To avoid issues where it cannot recognize after burning large amounts, ensure the data disk adheres to supported formats and folder structures by testing with short samples first.

When selecting the Technics SL-G700M2, think about your actual connection environment and intended use before the product name. It integrates SACD·CD playback, network streaming, and USB-B DAC while providing XLR and RCA analog outputs. Employing dual ESS ES9026PRO DACs and a separate power structure, this setup shines in situations where you want to ‘integrate SACD·CD·MQA·and network playback,’ but it requires the right conditions from your existing equipment and space to be utilized effectively.

The support methods for streaming services and MQA can vary based on app, firmware, and country. Since the main unit is large and heavy, plan for shelf loading and ventilation as well as Wi-Fi and Ethernet wiring. Pay especial attention to the ‘XLR/RCA·USB DAC·network services and main unit size’ components before confirming your purchase setup and installation location. Instead of wiring both XLR and RCA, consider choosing one output to simplify the volume matching across network, USB, and disk using the same track.

When choosing the Yamaha CD-S303, prioritize your actual connection environment and intended use over the product name. It supports CD, CD-R/RW playback and plays MP3, WMA, LPCM, and FLAC files via a front USB port. It features RCA analog, optical, and coaxial digital outputs along with a Pure Direct mode. This setup is beneficial for ‘listening to standard CDs and USB memory sources through simple stereo systems,’ but again depends on compatibility with your existing equipment and space for proper utility.

Since it does not support SACD or DVD formats, first distinguish the types of discs you own. Check the USB memory's file system and the folder/file limitations along with supported sample rates in the manual. Special attention is required on the ‘CD-R/RW·USB files·Pure Direct with RCA·digital outputs’ components before finalizing your purchase setup and installation location. Note that using Pure Direct might cause different behaviors in the display and digital output, so check audio and display characteristics based on the connection method.

When selecting the Cambridge Audio CXC, put your actual connection environment and intended use first before the product name. It features a CD playback mechanism and uses S3 Servo to send optical and coaxial digital signals to an external DAC. It does not include an analog DAC or RCA audio output. This setup is valuable for ‘delivering CD digital signals to your existing DAC and amplifier,’ provided your devices and space can support it.

It cannot be directly connected to amplifiers that only have analog inputs, so a separate DAC will be necessary. Ensure it’s not an SACD or DVD player, and confirm whether it recognizes CD-R/RW based on recording conditions. Especially, inspect the ‘no analog output, optical·coaxial output and CD format’ before finalizing the purchase setup and installation position. When using both coaxial and optical outputs, to avoid confusion with the DAC's selected input, define one main connection to streamline your remote control operation.
