Actual Indoor Places Connecting Museums, Libraries, and Experience Centers

#Overseas Travel #Free Travel #Shanghai Trip #Traveling in China #Places to Visit in Shanghai

Rainy days in Shanghai don’t have to mean giving up outdoor strolls; they can turn into a day for slowly exploring the city's history. The West Bund Museum offers a glimpse into contemporary art and architecture, while the History Museum and Urban Planning Exhibition Center showcase Shanghai's past and expansion plans. At the World Expo Museum, you can learn about the flow of international expositions, and at the Dongguan branch of the Shanghai Library, you can choose between reading, exhibitions, and lectures in one building.

We've gathered 8 actual indoor places, including the Film Museum, the Sha-Hang Warehouse Memorial, and the Glass Museum's Children's Hall. Consider the sections where you may get wet during the walk from the subway exit to the building, the need for umbrella storage, and air conditioning. Be mindful that indoor facilities may also close during typhoons. To avoid overlapping closure days, check current operations and organize alternative plans by grouping two places in each area.

When planning for rainy days, prioritize matching closure days and regions rather than just including many museums and galleries. In People's Square, you can combine the History Museum and Urban Planning Exhibition Center, while in Pudong, you can pair the Dongguan branch of the library with the museum. In Xuhui, you can mix the Film Museum and West Bund Museum. If there are long wait times for entry, consider taking a break at a nearby café or bookstore.

Due to wet umbrellas and clothing, be careful as your body temperature may drop inside; prepare an umbrella bag and a light outer garment. Check the regulations regarding large bags, beverages, and photography in the exhibition halls, and take your time at slippery entrances. In cases of heavy rain or typhoon warnings, prioritize returning to your accommodation and stay updated on transportation announcements. Even if the rain eases, it’s better to thoroughly explore one nearby place rather than trying to add distant locations.
