October 30 Seokchon Lake Fireworks: 7 Things to Enjoy at the Luminarie
From the opening ceremony time to light walks, photo spots, and opening weekend programs
The list includes the opening ceremony and fireworks, the main gate, the tunnel and arch gates, the Sphere of Love, and an exhibition by artist Han Ho. You can also visit to walk around the sculptures and artworks and take photos. The light festival is scheduled to run from October 30, 2026 to February 28, 2027 around the East Lake and West Lake.
With the activities, flea market, food zone, and weekend cultural performances added, we introduce seven things in total. These programs don't share the same operating period as the light sculptures, so choose according to your visit date. You can set different goals for the day you see the opening fireworks and the days you enjoy the lake's lights afterward, and it's worth checking the individual schedules of booths and performances that only run briefly.
2026 Seokchon Lake Luminarie Opening Ceremony & Fireworks
October 30 Opening Ceremony and Fireworks
18:30 is when the opening ceremony starts, and the fireworks launch time hasn't been announced separately. If the fireworks are your goal, visit during the opening ceremony and plan to wait while enjoying the performances.
2026 Seokchon Lake Luminarie Main Gate
The Main Gate at the East Lake Entrance
The scenic lighting runs every day of the festival from 17:30 to 22:30. If you're coming for the opening performances, split your time between photos at the gate and watching the stage; if you're mainly there to walk, plan to visit after the lights come on.
2026 Seokchon Lake Luminarie Tunnel & Arch Gates
Tunnel and Arch Gates for Walking Through Light
Try capturing the gate of light from the front, or take photos that bring out the sense of depth inside. If you'd rather enjoy a night walk than watch performances, you can come back anytime during the festival after opening day, giving you lots of flexibility in choosing when to visit.
2026 Seokchon Lake Luminarie Sphere of Love
The Sphere of Love at West Lake
Keep in mind that it's in a different location from the opening ceremony at the East Lake waterside stage. If you plan to walk to West Lake before or after the performances, leave time to get there, and deciding whether to enjoy the stage or the photo spot first will make your route easier to plan.
2026 Seokchon Lake Luminarie Artist Han Ho Exhibition
Artist Han Ho's Exhibition on the East Lake Walking Path
Take your time with the artworks themselves, separately from the stretches where you take portraits against the light sculptures. Even on days when you only want a short walk around East Lake, it's something to consider along with your plans around the performance area.
2026 Seokchon Lake Luminarie Activities, Flea Market & Food Zone
Opening Weekend Activities, Flea Market, and Food Zone
They start in the daytime, well before the lights come on, so you can fit in some browsing before the opening ceremony. These booths are an opening weekend program, so please plan your visit separately from the full period of the light festival, which continues until next February.
2026 Seokchon Lake Luminarie Weekend Cultural Performances
Cultural Performances on October 31 and November 1
The performance times overlap with the lighting hours, so you can fit both the stage and a night walk into one plan. However, fireworks aren't listed separately for these weekend programs, so be careful not to change your date expecting the opening ceremony fireworks.
The lights and photo spots continue until February 28, 2027, but lighting times may vary with sunset and on-site conditions. Please check the linked Songpa-gu information for any changes. The images include sculpture previews and performer materials released before the opening.
