The Namwon Jirisan area changes its focal points with each season, featuring deep valleys, high mountain paths, and azalea ridges. Baemsagol offers long valley explorations with clear waters, Dalkung Valley is perfect for camping and staying in the mountain area, while Guryong Valley is characterized by its nine-turn waterfall and rocky landscapes. Jeongnyeongchi is a high viewpoint accessible by car, but it is significantly impacted by road restrictions.

Baraebong is ideal for spring azalea hikes, and Jirisan Herb Valley is suited for experiences with plants and gardens on the Unbong Plateau. The six locations are not meant for a one-day completion. Choose a purpose, such as valley relaxation, scenic drives, serious hiking, or family gardening, and select one or two places from each area. Mountain weather and national park restrictions may differ from those in downtown Namwon.

Baemsagol Valley

Baemsagol and Dalkung lead you into the heart of Jirisan along water routes, while Jeongnyeongchi and Baraebong allow you to read the mountain ridges from above. Guryong Valley showcases the waterfall terrain of Juchun-myeon, and Herb Valley presents the agricultural and garden culture of the Unbong Plateau. Even within Jirisan, the physical strength required and styles of stay can vary greatly.

Be sure to check the valley water levels after the rainy season, winter road ice, and the crowds during azalea season. For hiking, bring water, windbreak layers, and non-slip shoes, and make sure to follow designated areas when entering the valleys. If the Jeongnyeongchi road is closed, don’t try to detour; instead, consider changing your plans to Herb Valley or a lower valley. Bringing back your trash is a basic principle of traveling in Jirisan.
