The experience of observing Chuncheon’s lakeside from a viewpoint is completely different from paddling directly on the water. The Uiam Lake Skywalk offers a breathtaking view over the water between cliffs and bike paths, while Mullegil and Jungdo Mullegil bring you close to the water's surface while canoeing. Sangsangmadang (상상마당) and Uiam Park add a cultural touch and a place to relax, while Hajungdo Ecological Lakeside Park allows for a slow observation of the reeds, birds, and low shores surrounding the island.

Instead of trying to visit all eight lakeside spots, choose based on the weather and your level of activity. For a hands-on travel experience, focus on canoe reservations, while a leisurely tour is best enjoyed by combining Uiam Park, Sangsangmadang, and Hajungdo. The wind, water level, and light conditions after sunset will vary by location, so checking the ending times for water activities and cycling is essential.

Uiam Lake Skywalk

This transparent viewpoint protrudes over the water from the Uiam Lake bike path, allowing you to feel the depth of the lake and the nearby Samak Mountain up close. Although it is short, combining it with nearby bike path walks offers a thorough experience of the lakeside terrain. Please note that access may be restricted due to rain, frost, or strong winds, and be sure to follow safety measures.

This water experience allows you to paddle canoes and kayaks at the same height as the mountains and water surface on Uiam Lake. Beginners can participate after safety training, but the difficulty may vary based on wind, water level, and the experience route. This is a multi-cultural space that utilizes the architecture of the former Children's Hall and the lakeside environment of Uiam Lake for exhibitions, performances, and educational programs. It’s a great spot to combine indoor programs with outdoor walks, especially in case of rain or heat. Since the opened space can change due to exhibition updates and performance bookings, check the schedule for the day.

Soyanggang Maiden Statue

This symbolic sculpture connects popular songs with the urban image of Chuncheon against the backdrop of the Soyang River. It is conveniently located near the Skywalk for a quick visit, and observing the direction of the river, bridge, and statue provides context for the site. Be sure to take photos from the inside of the riverbank railing to avoid obstructing pedestrian traffic.

Uiam Park

This urban lakeside park features grassy areas, trees, and walking paths along Gongjicheon and Uiam Lake. Close to Sangsangmadang, it offers a nice place to relax after exhibitions or to enjoy the water’s hues at sunset. As it attracts many cyclists and runners, refrain from spreading equipment in the middle of the path and check for restricted areas during events.

Chuncheon Songam Sports Town

A space where sports and the lakeside scenery meet, located south of Uiam Lake, where sports facilities and stadiums are clustered together. On non-game days, it provides easy access to surrounding walking paths and the cable car area, while on game days, the flow of spectators and vehicles changes dramatically. Check for facility access and parking regulations.

A hub for closely observing the island and lakeside while canoeing in the waters around Jungdo and Uiam Lake. You can see aquatic plants and birds along the low shoreline that are often missed during regular walks, but the course may change depending on water levels and weather. Follow the operator’s safety training and the designated access areas.

Hajungdo Ecological Lakeside Park

An ecological park where you can encounter reeds, lakeside vegetation, and the open scenery of Uiam Lake along the edges of Hajungdo. While it is located near large experiential facilities, it offers a tranquil walking experience, revealing different aspects of the island. Note that construction or access routes may change seasonally, and avoid poorly lit areas at night.

After canoeing, watching exhibitions or performances at Sangsangmadang, and waiting for the sunset at Uiam Park naturally slows down the pace of your day. The Soyanggang Maiden Statue and the Chuncheon Bridge area symbolize the urban lakeside, while Hajungdo illustrates the boundary between island ecology and new development.

Ensure safety during water activities by wearing life jackets and following the operator’s instructions, and do not board after drinking. On the bicycle paths around the lake, be cautious of pedestrians who may stop suddenly, and be careful of slipping after rain or frost on the skywalk and lakeside decks. After sunset, use official lit areas and main roads, and save the vehicle retrieval location in advance.
