The modern architecture of Hankou becomes more interesting when you explore why the port, banks, and warehouses are clustered on this street, rather than just snapping photos against the backdrop of European-style facades. Starting from Jianghan Pavilion near the Yangtze River, you'll pass by the old financial and public buildings of Lihuangpiru and Poyangjie, where remnants of the concession era's street structure can still be seen. Pinghe Dabaochang and Bagungfangzi showcase how old buildings are repurposed as exhibition spaces and commercial areas today.

This itinerary is designed to connect the actual buildings and museums inside and outside the Hankou Historical Cultural District by foot. While the facades are always viewable, the interiors may be closed depending on exhibition breaks, events, or renovations. Since building names may differ between their old names and current facility names, it’s helpful to save the Chinese characters. Alternating views between the front and edges from across the street with a wide lens can better reveal the proportions of the elevations.
