Autopilot vs. FSD: Sorting Out Confusing Features
Telling apart speed control, steering, parking and summoning, and reading the conditions for support in Korea
Tesla's driver assistance features may have similar names, but they play different roles. We break them down into five items, from the feature that manages the gap to the car ahead to steering, FSD (Supervised), parking and vehicle summoning. Understanding the feature names also makes it clearer what to ask during a vehicle consultation or when options are explained.
This is based on official Korean-language information checked on October 16, 2026. Not every vehicle in Korea offers the same features; they vary by market, build date, hardware, software, purchased options and regulatory conditions. Don't conclude that a feature is active in your car just because it appears in the Korean manual. Every item requires the driver's attention and readiness to intervene immediately.

Traffic-Aware Cruise Control
Traffic-Aware Cruise Control drives based on a set speed and adjusts the following distance when there's a vehicle ahead. The name is long, but if you first understand it as a feature that helps with speed and spacing, it's easier to tell apart from other features. You shouldn't assume that this feature alone keeps the car centered in its lane. Its role differs from Autosteer, which assists with steering, so check on the vehicle's screen which feature is currently engaged.
Activation methods and settings menus can vary by vehicle configuration and software, so it's best not to copy the controls of a car from a different model year. Don't expect it to handle every obstacle on its own just because it detects a car ahead; keep watching the road. In situations that call for the driver's judgment, such as stopped vehicles or sudden cut-ins, you need to be ready to take control immediately. When first learning the feature, read the manual under safe conditions and check the current set speed and following distance. Clearly understanding what the feature covers comes before convenience.

Autosteer
Autosteer adds steering assistance that helps keep the car within its lane on top of the speed and following-distance control. The fact that cruise control is on and the fact that steering assistance is actually working should be considered separately. Don't think of it as fully understanding road conditions or handling every intersection all the way to your destination. Use it within the conditions laid out in the manual while checking the status indicators on the vehicle's screen.
Availability and behavior can differ by market, build date, purchased options, hardware and software. It may behave differently than usual when lane markings are unclear or the cameras' view is poor, so the driver must always be ready to take back control. Don't assume that features with related names, such as Auto Lane Change, are all included in the same package. During a consultation, it's best to confirm each item that is activated on your vehicle. If a warning appears on screen or the surroundings become complicated, choosing to drive safely yourself takes priority over continuing to use the feature.

Full Self-Driving (Supervised)
From the name Full Self-Driving alone, it's easy to mistakenly think the driver can leave everything to the car. "Supervised" in the official name means the driver must watch the road and be ready to intervene right away when needed. Tesla's official information also states that the currently enabled features do not make the vehicle autonomous. It introduces capabilities that go beyond ordinary speed control and lane assistance, but the responsibility of driving does not go away.
The official Korean page includes demonstration videos filmed overseas, with a note that some features may not be available in Korea. So it's not accurate to say it can't be used in Korea at all, nor to say that every Tesla offers the same features shown in the videos. You need to check the actual vehicle's market, hardware, software, options and current availability. During a purchase consultation, ask about specific support for the model you want and what it can do right now. It's important not to take future update plans or demonstrations from other countries as the current capabilities of your car.

Tesla Autopark
Autopark is a feature that recognizes a parking space and assists with maneuvering into it. It's used in different situations from the driver assistance that takes you to a destination. Don't assume that having a parking feature means it works in every alley or parking spot; first check the space the vehicle suggests and the surrounding conditions. There may be things the driver needs to watch directly, such as children, pedestrians or low obstacles, so keep supervising throughout the process.
The official manual notes that Autopark may not be available depending on region, vehicle configuration, options, hardware and software. It's best not to conclude that your car has the feature based only on reviews from someone who drove the same model. If something is mounted on the back of the vehicle, such as a bike rack or trailer, also check the usage restrictions. If you'd like to try the feature, first ask during a consultation whether the test-drive car supports it, and when using it yourself, learn the current manual's instructions for starting and stopping. Understanding it as a tool that helps with parking reduces the expectation that one button will solve every situation.

Tesla Summon and Enhanced Smart Summon
Tesla Summon and Actually Smart Summon
Summon refers to a feature that lets you request the vehicle to move via the app before you get in. Actually Smart Summon, introduced on the official page, shows the car moving toward the driver in places like parking lots, but it shouldn't be understood as a service that sends an empty car anywhere on public roads. Simple forward-and-back summoning and summoning that navigates a route can differ in scope, so first check the exact name of the feature shown in your car.
The presence of a video on the Korean page doesn't mean it can be used the same way on every vehicle in Korea. You need to check the vehicle's hardware and options, the app and vehicle software, and regional availability conditions. Even while it's in use, you must watch the vehicle and the movement of nearby people and objects yourself, and be able to stop it immediately if needed. Don't run it first just because it seems handy in a tight space; read the manual's permitted locations and operating distance. It's best to use it only in suitable conditions, after individually confirming whether it's available in Korea and how it actually behaves.

When choosing a car or comparing options, instead of asking "Can it drive itself?", ask "Which features can I use on this vehicle right now?" Checking against the vehicle's exact configuration and its current screen helps you avoid confusing it with features seen in overseas videos or on cars from other model years.
Driver assistance does not take over the responsibility of driving. Before use, read the operating conditions, limitations and warnings in the in-car manual, and don't over-rely on the features when the weather or lane markings are poor. It's best to judge separately between descriptions of what may be offered in the future and what you can actually use today.
