A Two-Hour Evening Outing in Seoul After Work
5 places: palaces, night exhibitions, and short walks, with suggestions for dividing your time once you arrive
Two hours is an editorial suggestion for dividing viewing, walking, and nearby travel after you arrive at the destination. It does not guarantee the total time from leaving work to getting home. This is not a course that covers every place at once; you pick one place you like and fit it to your own finishing time and route home.

General viewing is announced as until 9 p.m., with admission closing at 8 p.m. Don't leave late just by looking at the closing time; remember the last admission separately. Adult general admission is 1,000 won, and interior viewing of each building, special exhibitions, and meals require checking separate conditions or costs. Also check the regular closure days and notices of restricted access to some spaces before you leave. The two hours suggested are an example of dividing viewing and nearby travel after arrival, and do not guarantee the total time from leaving work to returning home.

For weekday evenings, pick Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday first. The current notice says it operates until 9 p.m. on those days and until 6 p.m. on Thursdays, and it is closed on Mondays. This extended period lasts until November 30, 2026, so do not assume the same hours apply in winter. The permanent exhibition is free, but some special exhibitions or rented-space exhibitions may be paid, so check the conditions of the exhibition you want. If you finish work late or travel to the destination takes long, it is better to reduce the viewing area and set your admission and return times first.

The extended autumn evening hours do not open all exhibition buildings until the same time. Exhibition Building 1 is open until 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with the extended period lasting until November 30, and admission closes 30 minutes before closing. Exhibition Buildings 2 and 3 and the Education Building follow separate timetables, and on Thursdays it closes at 6 p.m. Also, the 1st-floor lobby of Exhibition Building 1 is announced as temporarily closed with restricted passage on October 13 to 25, 2026, and operating normally from October 27. During this period, check the exhibition rooms actually open and the entry route first to decide the extent of your visit. General viewing is free, but rented-space exhibitions may be paid, and there is no parking lot for general visitors.

The official tourism notice says the walkway is open 24 hours, but this does not mean nearby shops or all amenities operate all night. If you want drinks or a meal, check that store's business hours separately. There is no admission fee for the walkway itself, and transport, meals, and parking cost extra. On days with rain, strong wind, or maintenance of the access facilities, it is fine to switch to another indoor destination. The time split offered is an editorial suggestion, not a measured walking time, so shorten it to suit your own pace and travel distance.
Cheonggyecheon
Cheonggyecheon (청계천)
Whether the walkway is open should be checked in that day's Seoul Facilities Corporation closure notice. Depending on rain, water level, and maintenance, certain stretches may be closed or reopened, so do not trust the previous day's condition and go down. This suggestion is not a course to walk the whole of Cheonggyecheon, nor an itinerary that guarantees all the lighting. There is no admission cost, but meals and public transport cost extra. If access is restricted or the weather is bad, follow the barrier lines even at street level, choose an indoor destination nearby, and shorten the length of your evening plan.
Operating information was checked against official notices as of October 14, 2026. The museums' extended autumn hours have end dates and per-facility scope, and for streams and walkways you should check the day's weather and closure conditions. Decide your last train, last admission, and actual finishing time first, and choose an evening plan that is short but comfortable.
