The Railways of Gunsan Reflect a New History and Abandoned Stations

The railway landscape of Gunsan stretches from Gunsan Station, which welcomes travelers, to the rural Daeya Station, old stations, and port freight ships. Comparing operating and abandoned stations reveals the transition of routes from the city center to the outskirts and the port. Rather than focusing solely on the historical buildings, it's better to capture the direction of the tracks and the surrounding fields together.

This list has chosen six actual and abandoned stations, excluding the previous Impi Station. At operating stations, make sure not to disturb the flow of passengers and trains, and in abandoned stations, do not enter the tracks or restricted areas. Since the new and old Daeya Stations are located far apart from each other, check your access points and only take photos of the port station from open roads.

At the new station, focus on the large structures and movement, while at the abandoned station, capture the remaining signs and the surrounding fields. Gunsan Station and Gunsan Port Station have different flows, and there are many restricted areas around the port. Also, avoid confusion between Daeya Station and Old Daeya Station. Do not enter the tracks or the ends of the platforms, and ensure your tripod does not block pathways. If the abandoned station building is closed, observe from publicly accessible areas only.
