From the Bund in Shanghai, you can see the skyline of Lujiazui across the Huangpu River all in one view, and at Nanbin Lu in Chongqing, you can witness the layered lights of the Wuzhong Peninsula surrounded by the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. Guangzhou's Huacheng Square and Wuhan's Hankou Riverfront are also great spots to appreciate both the river and urban axes together.

It’s often more foolproof to make a riverside stroll the primary itinerary rather than only aiming for musical fountains and light shows. After rain or typhoons, waterfront areas may close, and the last subway or taxi pickup points can become crowded.
